I'd like to welcome you to the Universal Life Church! Below, you will find a simple form which, if you fill out correctly and completely, will make you a legal minister, able to perform all the rites and rituals normally accorded to ministers. If you want to be sure you are legal to perform a wedding in your state, check the FAQs to doublecheck the rules in your state, or call the local county clerk and ask if you need to register.
When you click the Submit button, your ordination will be transmitted to the ULC headquarters in Modesto, CA for hand processing. After you hit the submit button, you'll get an email asking you to confirm that you are a real person, with a real email, etc. You have to click the confirmation link for it to be transmitted.
ORDINATION APPLICATION
The form below has a spot for full legal name and first name. The spot for 'first name' is so when you get a newsletter or mailing, that's the name we'll use. You can put your nickname there or whatever name you'd like to be called. Once ordained, your information will be automatically entered into our database, as well as being sent to headquarters in Modesto, CA to be legally recorded by hand. Once you hit the button, you'll be sent an email to confirm your ordination. You must do this for the ordination to go through. You'll then be sent a second email welcoming you. Ordination through the Universal Life Church is legal and immediate. However, sometimes the requests are lost in cyberspace, so it's essential that you save the email sent to you which confirms your ordination. If you don't receive this email, please check your spam filters, then doublecheck your typing of your email address. If you try to put it in again, it won't go through if you're already in the system.
Both your name and complete address must be entered in order for the application to be accepted and legalized. Only true legal names with true addresses can be accepted. If you only put in your first name or you put in your cat's name or some other such nonsense, your request will be immediately deleted. The same is true if you live on 'fake st' or anything similar to that. All of the ordinations are verified by hand, so please don't make more work for the staff than necessary.
Ordination is a serious and meaningful rite and we hope that you will regard it that way.
